  1. OK I'm having trouble counting to 3 but these are mainly in the same category, so I think it's allowed :)


    Colour stuff:
    -HSV colour picker (as opposed to HSL, Lightness and Value are very different creatures)

    -Square colour pickers instead of triangular (triangles decrease in resolution in the corners, making it harder to pick the right colour, and it's fidgety thinking about which angle does what)

    -Always-on resizable big colour picker in the dock (I can now only have a small triangle, and sometimes I want a BIG square)

    -Customisablity of the big square colour picker (so I can control what is on what axis). For example, my favourite colour picker is from Krita, you can make it show Hue and Value in a big square, with a slider up top controlling saturation.

    Look at this beatifull colour picker, hue on the x, value on the y, saturation in a stroke on top:
    Note also the three small sliders along the bottom for adjusting/tuning in 1 axis.




    Tool stuff:
    "Hotkey" mode for tools. This is a killer feature from Clip Studio Paint, so simple and small but really improves the experience and possibility of reaching "flow state".
    In CSP, if you hold down the shortcut for a tool, it becomes "hot", only active as long as you hold down the key. Then when you release the shortcut, it flips back to your original tool. It's delicious.

    So youre making nice strokes with the brush, want to use the colour picker, you hold down 1 key on keyboard, pick the colour, then release the key to switch back to the brush.
    All it does is save one click but man does it change everything, being able to so quickly switch between 2 tools just by holding your finger over 1 key instead of 2.

  2. Yeah there's different ways to approach it. I see where you're coming from Alfred.


    I don't have access to photoshop, but Clip Studio Paint and Krita treat transparancy as a seperate colour, So it's either a gradient from Foreground colour to Background colour, or a gradient from Foreground to Transparancy, which bypasses this entire situation (and is also less flexible, because you can't make a gradient to 50% transparancy).

    IMHO a visual gradient from A to B should contain only visual elements from A and B, but that's just an opinion. I just wanted to flag this for the Affinity team, and I'm sure they can judge this as being very low priority in the grand scheme of things :)

    I'm just daydreaming about a situation in future years where I mightl have saved myself a few thousand clicks by this tweak ;)

    the colour is a remnant from a previous gradient


    it's something i've banged my head against quite a few times now, especially if its a similar colour, trying to figure out why the gradient seems off
    The interface gives no feedback that it's mixing with a colour, if you set it to 0% opacity

  4. Yeah in my mind the red doesnt exist because it's at 0%, so it wouldn't be a mix of the two situations you described

    It's example colour also disappears when you put it to 0% opacity. When going to 0% opacity you don't want to mix that color, you want to remove it.

    So it would be mixing white with nothing


    I suppose Affinity treats the opacity and colour gradients separately, whereas my intuition combines them

    For shutterstock stock vectors they require EPS format. I'm assuming that because shutterstock is so big that there's actually quite a few people who want good EPS exporting options.

    Currently Affinity Designer wipes layer names and structure upon export to EPS (unlike when exporting to SVG, where it is retained).

    Is it possible to maintain layer names and structure upon export?

    Just a small suggestion.
    I'm really enjoying the software, keep up the good work!


    When selecting a color for stroke I have to click exactly on the thin circle (here in black).

    The grey area in the middle doesn't do anything.



    Would it be possible to make the entire area clickable? So I just double click somewhere withing the entire area to go to color picker. It makes the process just a tiny bit easier and less fidgety

    First off many thanks for the great software. I am enjoying exploring it, looking forward to the upcoming releases.


    I'm running into an issue with exporting to EPS format for upload to Stock vector sites.

    Some elements of the image are being rasterized and I can't figure out why. It's curves with a fill of a gradient with 3-4 colours, without any transparency.
    Surprisingly, beneath the rasterization the correct curve has been created as well.



    On a different curve it exported correctly. Any help in which direction I should look for a solution?

    I'm assuming it's got to do with limitations of the EPS format. Is there a website which has a list of requirements/limitations of this format, so I can know what to look out for? I've been googling but can't find anything useful.
