Blender does display alpha as black in the image viewer, but that's not the issue. I grabbed my screenshot from the 3d viewport with the alpha channels disabled and that shows the 'true' image. You can clearly see the one output from Photo 2 is black, whereas the orgininal from Photoshop is not black. Also I showed in my game engine the same thing. -

if you open it and hide composite alpha it will show as large areas of black where the alpha is 0 -

When the alpha is 0 it writes black to the colour channels. Just upgraded to V2 and this is completely useless for me. Behold, a completely white image with an alpha channel as such: The resulting saved tga colour information: It should be white as the original, but it's changed all 0 alpha to black. Please fix this ASAP, I cannot use this software as is.

A big thing I am missing from my PS days is Layer Comps, where you can save and restore layer visibility combinations. It's not a snapshot, as it's not a history state. It just saves the layers configurations (visibility, opacity, layer effects), not the actual content.

3D Option for Affinity Photo

I'm a 3d artist, and photoshop's 3d features are awful and I would never use it. The other alternative is to use an exisiting stand alone 3d program, which is already available and designed specifically for the task. Then use Affinity Photo to comp in the 3d elements, which is what AP is designed for. -

Nooooooooo There are many dedicated programs that do 3d painting very well. The last thing that Affinity needs is a worse implementation that just bloats the program unneccesarily. Keep it focused! -
SOLUTION: 1) Paste as new layer, make it the top layer 2) Right click layer > Rasterize to Mask File > Export This is a different workflow to what I was used to in PS, but I think it's more flexible because you can optionally have a bunch of layers above or below the mask layer all with their own transparency that will contribute to the final exported alpha channel. ALSO you can have multiple mask layers that all contribute to the final alpha channel.

Greetings! I've been trying out Affinity Photo after having used Photoshop my whole career. It's got some really cool stuff in there! But also there are some little problems. I thought I'd make some notes, perhaps someone will find them useful. Rectangular marquee tool doesn't snap to grid Have an option to move layer visibility boxes to the other side (perhaps I just need to adjust but I find it weird. Also check boxes don't quite seem right for layer visibility) No way to duplicate layers to new document. I use it a lot in PS! It would be cool to be able to change order of effects. But this is something that PS doesn't do either. In the Layers panel, dim layers (or the checkbox) for layers that are in a non-visible group (otherwise it looks like they are still visible) Zooming redraw is blocky. Also it would be nice to have an option for the scrollwheel to zoom in the same way as pressing ctrl + / - (ie. to 150% instead of 156.2%) Transparent layer backgrounds in the layers panel show as dark grey (transparency should always be displayed as a grey chequer) Transparent layer background on the canvas is white when in solo mode (as above) Not sure about the floating mask layers. Why would you want a mask to be on it's own, without a layer to mask? It would be nice to be able to paste into a mask also. If you restore a snapshot and then immediately start painting, it says that assistant has created a new layer. But no layer is created and no paint tools seem to work Also snapshots... Are ok, but a thing I use a lot in PS are Layer Comps. Essentially the layer content is persistent but layers visibility, effects etc. can be switched. Keep up the good work, great to see that PS got some competition
