  1. I’m sorry, Dan, but the document is confidential and cannot be shared. The only thing of note that I can add is that the file was stored in a confidential website directory and I downloaded it directly from that location into Publisher. Publisher then adopted the name of the downloaded file and would not allow me to change that name. Yes, before you ask, I did try saving the file to the original location, but it would not do as I commanded. Dan, I could go to the effort of recreating the problem from the get go, but I really don’t have the time or energy to do that right now. What I will always do from now when opening a PDF file in Publisher is to immediately rename it and export it as a pdf. Then I will open the new version again and get on with my task.
  2. Sorry, no, I found a work around because I couldn't wait. So, nothing worked originally ... Save, Save As, Package. So, what I did, because I had to get the job done, was to export my work as a pdf, cross my fingers and delete the file I was working on without saving, then open the pdf I just saved, in Publisher. I then tried (successfully) to save the file as a Publisher file. Finally, I rebuilt the Master Pages and deleted the unwanted elements on each page. A tad annoying, but it worked.
  3. Here’s the story - I have an old, but important document that I wanted to edit, but I only have it in a PDF format. I opened it in Publisher (no problem) and spent 3 or 4 hours editing it, but when I came to save it, no luck. I got an error message telling me it wasn’t able to Save to the File. (I’m using Publisher 2). The original PDF was not locked or Password protected. I have tried to save it in multiple locations all with tons of storage space. The drive permissions are all fine. I have tried different file names. I can export the file as a PDF. I cannot save the file as a Publisher file. What’s up? Doug
  4. You, Alfred, are a blessing. You have saved what little of my sanity remains.
  5. Hmmm … Alfred, indeed. I can also just open the file from Photo or Designer, but my real problem is why don’t Designer and Photo open in the list of editing programs and why can’t I do anything about that? I think it peculiar that I can’t seem to export directly into Photos. These things about iOS and iPadOS bother the hell out of me. Apple has a way to go on directory management and / or Serif needs to do something with how there apps display OR, MORE LIKELY, someone has to point out how I am missing the obvious.
  6. Oops, it should be obvious, but this is on iPadOS.
  7. Hmmm … when I want to edit an image using Photo or Designer, those two prized apps do not show in the list of options available to me. If I attempt to edit the list of options, neither Photo nor Designer are available. I suspect there is a very simple fix, but I don’t know what it is.
  8. All I want to know is if you are working on Publisher for iPad Pro? I’m not appealing for a release date … just, are you working on it or is it in the “A Good Idea, Won’t Happen” bin?
  9. I’m really curious to know, is this is every going to happen? I’d just like to know if it is still being worked on or if it is on a back shelf in an obscure collection of great ideas that have gone moribund. I will go looking for another option if it is … just want to know … don’t need a date of release just want to know if it is being worked on.
  10. The BETA resolved the problem completely. Many thanks. Doug
  11. Where, oh where do I find the beta downloads? Cheers Doug
  12. I have a 34 page publication that I needed to save as a pdf file. I attempted to export the file (see attached) and end up with an error every time. So, I had to export as an eps and join the 34 files into one pdf in Adobe Acrobat. Not good. So, what is going wrong? Cheers Doug Thomson
  13. I should think the problem of Publisher for the iPad Pro on which I am writing is significant. That said, I look forward to the opportunity of testing a product before roll out. Is there a test version in the wings?
  14. Time to get Publisher on the iPad Pro platform. Come on, people!
  15. OK Affinity Designer types, I know we have been beset by COVID-19, but here we are in mid-2020, everyone can still work from home, and no sight of rulers. This has been plugging along for going on three years (previous threads to this one) ... where are the rulers?
  16. Indeed, I too would love to hear about Publisher for iPad Pro. I find it quite pleasing on the iMac, but I don’t tend to truck that thing around with me.
  17. Jon, I will when I get back to the computer ... writing from an iPad. It was most frustrating last night.
  18. Printing a series of concert tickets (an aside: really need csv file merge ... really!) and printing has been a total mess. 65 pages in the document ... it sometimes started printing in the middle, sometimes at the end, and never from beginning to end regardless how I set the page order in paper handling. I was left with the first page unprinted and finally had to export a pdf to get the first page to print. In fact, I am now printing everything from pdf and that is just not acceptable. I am so happy that you all are replacing Adobe in my world, but, people. This is not particularly good. Cheers Doug
  19. Now, some experimentation proves that this only happens when I attempt to change the text and the font size at the same time. If I only change the font size, all is well. This means two steps instead of one, but something is better than nothing. Hope that leads you closer to a solution
  20. I need to search and replace text in a ticket layout with a different font size. I specified a 10 pt. replacement size, but end up with 41.7 pts. It seems to be multiplying the font size by a mysterious factor that changes with the substitution font size. Not good and will mean a lot of work for me. See attached. I need a fix toute de suite.
  21. I have just switched from Adobe CC and am on something of a learning curve. Two issues have sprung up immediately. The Fit Type -> Shrink to Printable (or Fit to Printable) does nothing on my Canon iPF-Pro 2000 when printing sheet stock. This is important as one looses a fair amount of paper real estate when using what is ostensibly a roll paper printer and the loss is not even (greatest loss on the tail of the print). Ergo, one would have to fiddle around with setting uneven borders for every print. So, is this a bug, an oops, my misunderstanding or what? The print driver doesn't seem to shut off Color-Sync when using custom .icc profiles. Now it may be that you simply aren't greying out the Color-Sync radio button and I'm getting something else happening, but it would be nice to know what is the story. Apart from that I am very much enjoying my new to me Affinity products. Cheers Doug
  22. Exactly the obvious I was missing. Just left Adobe and will be facing a learning curve. I've been using the former since about 1984.
