Marcy T Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 I am having a similar problem I think just started after updating and cannot save any files. I do not use my iphone photos. I use my professional camera's photos. After I edit and save, the file will no longer recognize the file type and when I try to open them is will say Failed to open file The file type is not supported or it may be corrupt I have a ton of photos to edit. I have no idea what to do! I am very upset Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 9, 2019 Staff Posted September 9, 2019 Hi Marcy T, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you please give us more details about your workflow? You said you are using a professional camera so you are probably working with RAW files. Where are these RAW files stored on your system? Are you using Apple Photos to import and store them or have you imported them to a folder on your computer? After editing them in Affinity Photo are you using the Save As command to save them? If so they are being saved in Affinity Photo's native file format (which have the .afphoto extension). Only Affinity apps will recognise and open this format (it's proprietary). Are you trying to open the .afphoto files in another program? If you want to save in a format recognised by most other apps please use File > Export and chose an appropriate format. Note: I've split this thread so your post and my reply are now on a new thread (the old one was quite old/outdated) in the Affinity on Desktop Questions (Mac and Windows) section.
