Affinity Photo for iMac: Edited image does not save back to Photos

Are you sure you are choosing "Edit with Affinity Photo" (the extension) & not "Edit in Affinity Photo" (from a menu)?

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.2 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7

Sorry, my brain must have been upside down in my skull when I posted my previous reply because I got it backwards: "Edit in Affinity Photo" is the extension & "Edit with Affinity Photo" is from the menu. :$

You are not doing anything wrong by using the right-click method (but see the Don’t Edit with “Edit With” section of this article for why it is usually not a good idea). What is wrong is there is a bug in the latest version of Affinity Photo that prevents the edited version from being sent back to Apple Photos. The developers are aware of this so it will probably get fixed in an update, but for now (& to some extent always) using the "Edit in Affinity Photo" extension will do what you want.
