Large files and Inpainting

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Im having issues with the Inpaiting Fill command and a very large file.

I have a stitched HDR panorama with a size of 36k by 6k 16bit. The file was created with Photoshop and imported trough iCloud. I have a rather large and uniform area to fill. Its just sky at the corners. The small patches where a breeze and the result is amazing. But the bigger patch is a problem. Ill try to describe the behaviour as best as I can.

I flood select the area -> I choose Fill and while navigating to Inpainting, I get a preview for the different methods I've "scrolled" through (white, primary, background etc) -> I select Inpainting, and the app starts to hang. The preview is not changing. (stays blank/checkerboard, or is stuck on the last mode) -> I click Agree, nothing changes.

Ive attached a video.

The Inpainting fill mode works like a charm for smaller selections. As it is, I think that it is doing all the work the moment you change the mode from Color to Inpainting. And for larger selections, when it will take a minute to calculate, there is no feedback to the user. I don't know if its crashed or is it still crunching numbers.

P.S. I am on iPad OS beta. But it works with small areas to fill, and the problem was there before I got the beta.

Hi Dkvv,

Welcome to the forums :)

We have recently released a beta build of Photo on iPad that will hopefully address these issues. Please could you try signing up for it using the below forum thread and see if that improves performance?

Thanks
