Laflin Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I am a beginner at this and wish to make a series of 4 layers with some transparency so you can see through them. They are all on top of one another mostly. I tried to do this under layer and could not figure it out. Quote

Laflin Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Thanks, I understand that but cannot get multiple images (separate layers) under the layers section. I could get the images under new stack but then don't see how to drag them to layers. You see I have yet to grasp the basics on this! Quote
R C-R Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Which Affinity app are you using? Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
Laflin Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Affinity Photo trial. I cannot work out how to move photos to layers. Each time I do that it removes the original layer. I have made a new stack of photos I want to put into layers but cannot see how to do that. Thanks for your help. Quote
R C-R Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 If you open a photo file in Affinity Photo, it opens in its own document window or tab. That does not remove any other photos open in their own windows or tabs. Among other things, You can copy the photo layer in one document & paste it into another document; place photo files in an existing open document window or tab using File menu > Place, or drag a photo file from an open Finder or Explorer window into the document window or tab. File > New Stack is not generally used for this but it is possible to use it if for example you select the Live Stack Group & ungroup it. Laflin Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Thank you. I am beginning to get the hang of it. I wish I had someone hanging over my shoulder to save me going through trial and error ad infinitum! Not such a user friendly app perhaps... appreciate your help. Quote
R C-R Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 The built-in help system or its online counterpart is not as good as someone hanging over your shoulder but it is useful to browse through it if you are new to the app, particularly the topics in the Introduction & Getting Started sections. There is also a growing list of updated official video tutorials you can refer to. The Basics category includes several topics that cover various aspects of opening & saving, the use of layers, etc. Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
