Limits on number of open files on Mac

Recommended Posts

Are there limits on the number of open files? I can open a number, say 6, raw files. However when saving a file the application becomes unresponsive and I end up having to force quit. From a workflow perspective it is unworkable to open each image separately and then save and close it before moving on. How do I know how many files I can open at once? Also just tried a batch export run. exporting afphoto files into jpegs. Giving it some 90 files it completed about half and then sits processing 16 files. Activity monitor does not show the app going non responsive but I have no choice but to force quit the app.

Hi @ColinMc and Welcome to the Forums,

As far as I'm aware, there is no hard limit for maximum photos you can open it will all depend the specifications of your machine and the size of the images etc.

I'd always suggest trying this again in the latest beta from here:

For batch processing, if you untick Parallel Processing, does it complete the job okay?
