angestudio
Hi, I'm trying to replace Photoshop with Affinity Photo, but I'm kind of stuck in my process right now. I've read smart objects are on the roadmap, but I'm trying to figure out if I can just use the current feature allowing to embed an image. So let's say I want to make a basic compositing with two pictures in the same file. I have "placed" my two picture A and B, on the left and the right side, and grouped them. Now I have duplicated that group, switched A and B to get B on the left and A on the right. I there any means to have A replaced in both group if I "replace image" ? Staff MEB Posted May 29, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2015 Hi angestudio, Welcome to Affinity Forums. No, currently Affinity Photo will only replace the instance of the image you selected. The other will remain the same. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference | Call for Camera Images
angestudio
Hi, Thanks for you clear answer :) Is this on the roadmap and if yes do we have any insight about the timeframe you think to add it?
Staff MEB Posted May 29, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2015 You're welcome ;) Our roadmap is public. You can check what's coming in the next months here. Symbols and linked images are already planned. At this point i don't know if it will be able to replace all instances of the same image or not. There's no timeframe for those features. It all depends on how the development goes and if we are happy or not with them. Staff MEB Posted May 31, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 31, 2015 Hi angelstudio. Yes the roadmap is for Designer. Sorry about the mistake. Still this (embeddd/linking) should also work on Photo when available.
