Affinity Photo 1.7.1 install error -36 on OSX 10.14.5

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

while installing the 1.7.1 Affinity Photo version I get an "Error -36" message.

I've search this forum and the internet and couldn't find any solution so far.

I am running OSX 10.14.5 on a MacBook Pro mid-2012.

The 1.6.x version I had was overwritten and since the installation failed, I am left with nothing.

I've already tried the following things:

  • download the installer again
  • reboot my mac and performe a Reset SMC and Reset PRAM
  • run a dot_clean on the installer

Nothing worked out so far.

Any idea?

Hi Drella22,

Welcome to the forums :)

Sorry to see this, could you please open your Applications folder in Finder, then right click on the folder itself and select 'Get info'. In the window that opens please check you have Read and Write privileges to this folder. If you already do please try removing the access and then re-enable this.

Could you confirm, are you installing the app onto an external drive, or your normal hard drive?

Since the failure of installation does 1.6 still appear in your applications folder? If so I recommend moving this to trash and try installing again.

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
