TheMorbidMagpie
good evening fellow AP iPad users, I've recently treated myself to a new 2018 iPad pro and the AP app, the settings menu has me a little confused :/. i shoot with a Nikon D500 in sRGB in NEF(raw) file format, do i set the colour space as one of the sRGB settings, there is a few that confused me a bit, or do i go for P3 as it covers more of the colour space and im not wasting a P3 screens extra colour space, any other settings tips would be much appreciated as I've not really been one for heavy editing and just go for small tweeks in NX-d, but I'm getting with the ''times'' and pushing myself a bit more these days. cheers in advance :)
DM1
The trick is to have what you see on the screen replicated for viewers on other screens or on other print mediums. Sure it looks great on my iPad but when I print the image it looks different. This is where colour profiles have an impact. Their are limitations with the iPad because you can't calibrate it’s screen, however I have read that it reproduces colour quite accurately. My knowledge of colour management is very limited but there is lots of info around, and if printing professionally, the printer should assist with colour profiling requirements. There is a good explanation here: https://dpbestflow.org/color/color-space-and-color-profiles Some printer profiles here. https://www.redrivercatalog.com/profiles/inkjet-printer-color-icc-profiles-red-river-paper.html Arange of icc colour profiles are available online and can be downloaded and installed on AP. AP will assign the profile to your raw image when it is processed but you can change it any time using the Document menu, Convert Document option. I don't think there are any calibration options available in the iPad but AP does allow you to check for out of gamut colours in your editing. You can assign a profile to your finished work that is embedded in the file. Have fun Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
