Charles Turner Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Hi guys, Generally is it better to use more exposures (5 or 7) for HDR and what should the stop separation be? Regards Charles Quote
John Rostron Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 It depends on your subject matter. I rarely need more than five when I am photographing stained-glass window with the sun behind the window. Often three is ample. The only circumstance when seven may be needed is if you are shooting into the sun. In these circumstances, HDR will often produce rather flat results that need considerable tweaking post-HDR. I tend to use a spacing of mainly one stop or occasionally 2/3 of a stop. Pebal Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 The number of photos depends on the scene, but you should not use the step greater than 2ev. The step 1ev is most often optimal. Quote
Charles Turner Posted June 9, 2019 Author Posted June 9, 2019 Actually I'm being a bit of an idiot, I can take 7 shots and use the number I want when processing in Affinity Photo. Quote
