Change image resolution in Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

Hello, is it possible to change the resolution of an image in Affinity Designer? I am creating a banner and I have imported a lot of high resolution Affinity Photo cropped images. I have reduced the size and the resolution is increased. In order to reduce the size of the file, is there a way to reduce the resolution of each image?

Thank you.

You could export them from Affinity Photo at a lower resolution or Save As... from Photo and then use that copy to reduce the resolution (name the copy 'X-Lo-Res.afphoto') and import that. Or just keep working in Designer and Export from there.

As far as I know you can't change the resolution in each image you have placed in Designer without rasterizing it which means you'll have problems if you want to resize one or more later on. If you want to just select in the Layers Studio and right click and rasterize. This is permanent and will use the Designer document's DPI setting.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hello Old Bruce and thank you for the prompt answer. Rasterize can do the job, but it is impossible to change the DPI setting (fixed to Designer document's DPI setting). The best should be to be able to resample the image. I am replacing CorelDraw and with it it was possible to resample the image, change the color model, etc. Do you think it will be possible to ask this as a future improvement?

Some of that is available in the new Beta for the document as a whole but not individual placed images. So I would suggest you download the beta and see if that does anything for you.

Feel free to suggest anything which will improve the products at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/53-suggestions-for-affinity-designer-on-desktop/ .
