how does the licensing work?

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't a subscription model like adobe so I don't expect access to all the updates or anything like that.  But, Say I bought designer today and then a week from now a new version is released.  Will I have to buy the new version again?

Is there some sort of time limit for that stuff?

I want to purchase designer but I get kind of paranoid that if I buy it then a newer version is going to be released right after that.

Hi pattypatpatpat,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
All minor updates are free (1.x), major upgrades are paid (v1 to v2 or from v2 to v3 for example).
If you buy Designer now you get free updates (1.7, 1.8 etc) until v2.0 which is a paid upgrade. The current retail version is 1.6. Version 1.7 should out soon but we are at least one year away (if not more) from v2.0.
