Vickyjs Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 I’m used to using illustrator and formerly freehand (much preferred) so now I’m trying to get to grips with Afinity designer whilst I’m ill in bed with flu two questions that I can’t find online answers to (yet) possibly because they are quite boring 1) can I lock guide lines in place on the art board so they don’t accidentally get moved? Can I lock other objects, I haven’t found this function yet. 2) can I paste text into irregular shaped boxes. I haven’t got very far with text yet so I also need to be able to place it on a curve. Sorry if the questions are a bit dumb, I’ve got flu and my brain is fogged Any advice or links to good help files much appreciated. Quote
Staff MEB Posted February 15, 2019 Staff Posted February 15, 2019 Hi Vickyjs, Welcome to Affinity Forums 1) No, it's not possible to lock guides. The only tool able to move them on canvas is the Move Tool and in the Customer Beta 1.7 we set the guides to the lowest hit priority meaning any object overlapping them will be selected instead thus it should be difficult to move them accidentally. There already some feedback suggesting we still should offer a way/button to lock them. This feedback as been passed to the dev team for consideration. 2) Yes, with the shape selected, copy the text you want to the clipboard, pick the Text Frame Tool and place it over the shape (the cursor should change to a T inside a pentagon), click over the shape to convert it to a Text Frame and paste the text.
