Hello all!

First of all we've been using Designer and Photo here at our work, and its been a great tool, congrats!

But sometimes we run into a few problems, and thats ok, we know it takes time to make things perfect.

But today happened something kinda big that made me write this. As the tittle explained, we work on MAC and a file was edited yesterday with clients considerations. But today when we opened it, was back on the last version. The funny thing is the mac finder preview shows the latest modifications. I've attached some shots to show that. Its not the same file name, because i've copyed it, but the same issue happens.

Is it something wrong we did? What caused this? Is there a way to get the right version back?

Thanks!

Hi TNB.studio and Welcome to the Forums,

Can't say i've seen this issue before.

Could you upload the afdesign file to our Dropbox here so i can see which version opens for me on my Mac?

Thanks for the file.

Where was the file being saved to yesterday? If it was a network drive, could you try making a change and saving the file to your Desktop to see what thumbnail it shows?  Also if you use Finder outside of Designer, as in Finder on the Dock of MacOS, what thumbnail does it show for you?

Ok, the file was saved on our network server.

I've copied now to my desktop, and opened from there. Same thing.

Theres another screenshot showing that, thru OS finder (i have Mojave) , the preview even, and in the desktop (on the background is AD with the open file)

Thanks for the screenshots.

I suspect it may have been an issue with saving directly to a network drive.  We always advise to save locally and then move the file to a network drive.  With the file you have you on your desktop, if you can open that in Designer and click Edit>Preferences>General and untick Save Thumbnails with documents and then click File>Save.  Then go back into Preferences, re-enable the thumbnail and save it again.  What thumbnail does the file now show in finder?

For me, one my Mac, i'm seeing what would be the old thumbnail and that's the file it opens.

Hi

I've tried your suggestion, but the thumbnail is still the same. I've made a change in the file (by inserting a pic) and now the thumb is showing the image as it is.

Guess the problem is that somehow AD saved the last file version (with the thumbnail) but got back to a previous version of it in the history (yes, maybe a network issue) and didn't change the thumbnail since it wasn't a new save. I don't know.

Anyway, thanks for the help. If you guys could flag and try to take a look if it happens again, would be awesome.

I have a few other reports to give (on another thread), but I think Affinity is going the right way. Don't expect all problems to be solved now, but we as community should help giving those feedback to make it get there.

Thanks again
