genec Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 I have been trying for hours to enlarge a selection from a screen capture. lets say I took a screen capture from a page with a coupon on it, I can get that page to open in AP , and then make a selection of the coupon and try to copy it to a new file, either the whole page loads or nothing loads. This was so easy in PS select , copy , open new file and paste, can you help me? Quote
Staff MEB Posted January 10, 2019 Staff Posted January 10, 2019 Hi genec, Welcome to Affinity Forums You're probably trying to copy a selection from an Image layer (check the label between parenthesis after the layer's name in the layers panel). If so right-click that layer in the Layers panel and select Rasterise to convert it to a pixel layer type. You can then copy/paste as you are expecting. Image layers are a special layer type that retains all the original image data - you can think of them as embedded images . They are created when you use the Place Image Tool (in Affinity Designer only), the File ▸ Place command or when you simply drag them from the Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) to the canvas of an opened document. They can be transformed globally (rotated, skewed etc) without losing quality but they cannot be edited/manipulated at a pixel level. For that they must be rasterised first as explained above.
