both photo and designer auto-close after opening

I have installed the latest version of the Affinity programs and now they are closing after it appears they have opened! I thought this should be posted in technical help but those subject areas are not open to me for some reason.

Whats happening after clicking on the apps icon, do you see the apps splash screens and which OS are you running?
