Need help with stabiliser on ipad

Recommended Posts

I know there are rope stabiliser and window stabiliser and I know how to turn that on, but doesn't matter which one I choose it's always the rope one. I have updated to the newest version and reinstalled it a couple times. Could someone help me fix this please?

Hi Notsweet,

Welcome to the forums :)

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you please confirm, are you using Photo or Designer? What iPad model are you using and on what iOS please?

We can certainly look into this for you!

Hi Dan, thank you for replying. I'm using Affinity Designer on ipad pro, the ios version is 12.0.

Thanks for that, unfortunately I'm unable to replicate the issue, I've recording my workings below:

As you can see, the rope mode allows me to create much sharper corners than the Window mode, as can be seen in the help documentation:

Quote
  • Stabilizer—enables stroke stabilization using either a Rope stabilizer or Window stabilizer mode; the former drags the stroke end by a 'rope' to smooth the stroke but lets you introduce sharp corners at increasing rope Length (radius) values by redirecting the slackened rope; the latter will smooth the stroke by averaging sampled input positions within a Window whose size is configurable.

The difference between these is not always instantly noticeable, however if you're seeing different results than mine, could you please record your screen and post the video? Details on how to do this can be found here. :)
