DtheR
Hi Experts I have very recently moved from a Windows machine to a Mac (with no regrets so far). For over a decade I have used CorelDraw but as there is no Mac version I am forced into starting with unfamiliar software. (Trying to make a clean break rather than use Parallels.) There was no way I could afford Illustrator so have been looking round for something comparable to Corel. When I checked out Affinity I was amazed at what a comprehensive package it is for the price. I am finding more and more as I check out the tutorial videos and play around with it. At the moment I am fumbling along learning by trial and error and wonder if there are any printable instructions, especially for keystrokes and a brake-down of the various tools (I.e. sub-tools etc.). Are there any PDF tutorials anywhere. Look forward to hearing from you.
Busenitz
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/3333-cheatsheet/?hl=shortcuts has a PDF of keyboard shortcuts, very helpful. I'm not an expert, but my thoughts: I switched to Mac last spring, and am thrilled with AD. (CorelDRAW X4, and PaintShop Pro X3 being hard for me to give up, but not professional, so yes, Adobe is out of the options) I do miss CD's power clipping, but with AD, it's just different, not necessarily better in CD. I do miss the ability to "Edit Contents" as far as working with many assets in one clipping, or being able to view the entire object, along with the border of the clip. AD does have a lot of features not found in CD. Things I also miss: bitmap / texture transparencies (though you can do this through the pixel side, but not retain the vector) Also, text in an envelope, though I think an equivalent is in the current roadmap. Most people in this forum are from AI background, but there are some of us used to CD. Everyone is very patient with those of other experiences, and willing to be helpful. Also, check out tutorials on vimeo. Hope this helps some.
DtheR
Thanks for the link. Very useful. Thanks for your comments. Makes me think that I will readjust to AD without too much sorry in leaving CD.
