I was wondering how i can do such things with the marquee tool in affinity photo

Hi Siaro,

Welcome to the forums.

In Photo, if you create a new Pixel layer, then use the Marquee toll to draw a selection. No use Edit > Fill, now select a custom colour and then Apply, then just deselect the area. Have you considered using the shapes tools, they may be workflow a little easier.
