 Hi,

I'm a graphic designer in a sign shop and we're excited about the possibilities offered by Affinity for our programming needs; currently we're using the Adobe suite, but are rather unhappy with the product line, as the extremely high price rate ($70 per package per month with 4 design stations) is becoming a problem. Affinity's stepping onto the stage is a real help to small shops like us, however there are a few problems with the software that unfortunately make it almost unusable and I was simply hoping to make those issues known.

Our biggest hurdle is that multiple effects can't be stacked, such as 2~3 strokes, which are crucial not only to our designs, but also in keeping file sizes down when working on larger files.

And as a shop that regularly uses Photoshop, all of our files are PSDs, and while Affinity can open them, the opening dialog doesn't register the filetype, making it very difficult to locate files if you don't have the precise name memorized. Also the program has neither a saving progress bar, nor a opening progress bar, and a shop that works with 1~3 Gb files, it's becomes difficult to tell if it's still running or has crashed.

I'm not sure if these are easy fixes or not, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated, and thank you.

Hi Dolosus Umbra, welcome to the forum

Layer effects generally cannot be stacked. However there is a way around this using groups. You can apply the effect to the layer, then create a group that has just that layer and add another effect to that, the group that and add another effect and so forth.

We may consider adding the ability to add multiples of an effect to a single layer at some point, but it's a bit too big a change for us to make right at this moment :)
