I have a small issue with the style drop down menu. It's not working. The styles are shown but selecting them has no effect on the selected text. Selecting the style from the styles window does work. Anyone else had this? If so is there a fix? I have attached a screenshot for clarity.

I don’t know what difference(s) you expect to see because I don’t know how the text should look either formatted or unformatted.

Can you give us a (maybe annotated) visual example where the difference is more obvious?

I just attempted to film a clip and annoyingly the menu decided to work. Basically, the selected characters are missing from the font used in the document so appear bolded when text is pasted in, the character style changes the selected letters to a different font which has the required characters. All of yesterday and this AM attempting to use the drop down to select the character style failed to have any effect while the styles window changed the characters correctly. When it happens again I will post a clip to demonstrate. Thanks for the reply though.

Interesting, thanks for the video.

Unfortunately I don’t know enough about font substitutions, if that’s the underlying problem, so I’ll have to leave it to other people to give an explanation.

This other thread reports a problem which might not have the same underlying issue, but seems similar: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/225314-applying-character-style-using-drop-down-located-in-context-toolbar-fails/

The other thread is indeed pretty much it. It's not the font substitution itself it's the actual drop down menu as covered in the other thread. I suspect this is just a little bug which will disappear with future updates.
