Hi! I have this text path that needs to be converted to a curve. When I do that, the thickness of the text changes. The change is not constant throughout the path and depends on the text position in the path.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Seems to work okay on my Mac without any change in the font (I tried Moonglow Regular and a few other fonts). Not sure if it's the font you're using or not. When you convert your text path/text to curves, you are actually converting your TEXT to curves, and discarding the original shape you used for the path.

If you simply want to duplicate the original shape as a Curve, (to adjust fill, stroke, colors, etc), here's a workaround...

  • duplicate your Text/Text Path layer.
  • On the duplicate layer, delete the text, leaving only your shape.
  • Then, Convert the duplicate shape to Curves.
  • Modify the new curve as desired.

Another (and perhaps a better) option is the create a shape (e.g., an ellipse). Convert it to Curves FIRST, and then use Artistic Text on the Curve. You can also use the Pen or Pencil tools to create a curve that you can adjust afterwards. More flexible.

Thank you very much for all the info. Next time I'll try one of your solutions.

I managed to make it behave as intended by unchecking the "Scale with object" flag in Stroke. No idea why converting was changing the stroke width since nothing was being scaled.
