I try to limit the use of cross references because they give me lot of troubles. Now I have just a link from a page in the first chapter to the first page of all the other chapters.

It works... sometimes only. Some links to a page that (for example) should be 245 stubbornly the cross reference assumes the value of another chapter (e.g., 89).

The only solution I have is to manually set the page number - cross references seems to be absolutely unreliable.

I tried to find an answer but I am confused by many threads. I am using the beta, but had this problem also before with the production version.

Could someone help me please?

I think you'll need to share more information.

  1. Please confirm that this is for an Affinity Publisher Book with separate Chapter document files and that the cross reference is from one Chapter file to another Chapter.
  2. Does the issue correct itself when you choose Cross-References > Update Cross-References from the Books panel menu? You have to do this the target for a cross-reference is no longer on the same page.

Hi Mike and thank you.

I found a solution while creating a video for you. The problem was in the text frame. I recreated it (first part of the video) and it was OK.

Then I returned to the original text frame and you can see that it assumes the wrong page number (89).

So I deleted the text frames giving the error and created them new.

It seems to work, tomorrow I check again.
