I work with a skincare client that introduces new products so for their marketing material I will go and add the product image and adjust the layout.  The packaging for each category is the same (i.e.  Serums, Moisturizers, etc) and I will use an existing image and update the label for that new product. Then, as I have always done in InDesign, I duplicate an existing image and replace the duplicate with the new image so the scaling is consistent.

Now, with Affinity Publisher 2, I have realized that ALL images of the duplicate are being replaced. Say, there are 8 different types of serums and they introduce a 9th one. I will duplicate serum image 1 and replace it with serum image 9.  Now, all instances of serum image 1 is replaced with serum image 9. I am only selecting one image to update. This is not good. I'm sending proofs out with image 9 anywhere image 1 should be and my client is not looking for that.

Hard to say what's happening without knowing the document layout but if you are changing an image on a Master page that could have an effect of changing images on the main pages

No, I am not using a master page. I am simply going to the Resource Manager and replacing the image that I have selected, which is the duplicate. It replaces all instances of that image. This is not an issue with InDesign as I have done this procedure a gazillion times. My only workaround is to place a 'new' image, crop the white bounding box (required for the client's needs) and re-size the image to correct scaling. Minor pain in the butt.

Ok, if you duplicate an image, in the Resource manager it's the same image

So, you will see the image with an arrow next to it, if you click that arrow, you will see both images, you need to select the right one and replace that

Replacing the primary image will replace both of them

This could be what is happening to you

Alternatively, don't use Resource Manager and simply select the image on the page then select Replace Image in the context toolbar there

I don't duplicate the image in the Resource Manager, I do that in the document (copy/paste), then with the duplicated image selected, I go to the Resource Manager to relink the selected image. It may be the same thing as what you're describing. I will try the alternative method. I will just need to find that option. LOL

OK.. I found it and will never forget this option. I'm still learning how to navigate here. Thanks for your help!
