Franz Rogar Posted Saturday at 12:20 PM Posted Saturday at 12:20 PM WHAT IS REQUESTED The ability to set up hotkeys dynamically. GIMP 2.x has this (fantastic) option available. WHY IT IS USEFUL It's easier to place the mouse cursor over a menu entry and press a key combination that registers as hotkey, rather than searching in the configuration for a it and set it up. IMPLEMENTATION No idea, but won't be easy as it might need some groundbreaking rewriting of the UI code. Quote
MikeTO Posted Saturday at 03:18 PM Posted Saturday at 03:18 PM I don't think this could work on macOS. GIMP for Mac has this Settings option just like the Windows version but while this feature used to work, I think it's broken in the current version. I read somewhere that the functionality was removed from the UI framework used by GIMP. This feature also isn't compatible with dynamic menu items on macOS. While the Mac version of Affinity doesn't have many dynamic menu items, presumably to keep the UI similar across platforms, it does have some and they require pressing Option. This would make it impossible to assign shortcuts while a dynamic menu item is shown in the menus. The shortcut editor couldn't be completely eliminated because there are many shortcuts available for editing which aren't in the menus. But I really wish that it was improved: Search for commands by name - dynamically filter commands as you type Make changes in one app and have them replicated to the other apps so you don't have to set the same shortcut three times Jump to duplicates - it warns us of dupes but you can't click the dupe to jump to it Allow assigning shortcuts to context menu commands Allow Windows users to edit text input shortcuts - only Mac users can do this Show the commands in collapsible sections that match the menu hierarchy rather than in one long list macOS - replace the Apple button with two buttons, one to switch the text input shortcuts to the Apple standard and another to switch the text input shortcuts to the Serif standard - the existing Apple button reverts all shortcuts Franz Rogar 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.2, MacBook Pro 14" (M4 Pro)
