Hey folks,

I'm a full time game publisher and writer and as a side project I'm keen to write a choose-your-own-adventure style book - not called that officially of course because I know that phrase is owned by a company.

Before I start laying out paragraphs and/or text blocks and having to redo it because I made a rookie error I was keen to get suggestions on the best ways to link the paragraphs. For those who need an explanation, my text is going to look something like this:

You tense as the shape in the doorway shambles forward, the grey pallor of it's skin contrasts with the crimson red of it's single eye that glares at you. Do you: Open fire with your revolver, go to 32. Step back and holster your weapon to indicate you don't want trouble, go to 44 or bolt back through the door behind you, turn to 67

Whilst this will be a printed book, there will be a pdf version and I'd like to ensure that all the 'go to' statements are 'hyperlinked'.

My question is, how best to achieve this?

Do I make the section numbers e.g. 32, 44, 67 above link to paragraph headers that I set up as anchors - (can I do that through text styles?). Do I use manual hyperlinks? (Will they work if the paragraphs move page during edits and rewrites?)

I remember when V2 of Publisher was announced there was some feature that was designed for this sort of task, I can't remember what it was called and I can't find that original video so I'm hoping someone in the forum can set me straight.

And the story will feature werewolves - cover attached - I'm going for an '80s style vibe.

All help appreciated.

Thanks, Stephen

Hi R C-R, thanks for trying to help. I guess I was hoping someone could advise me on the process. From reading those links, and from what I already knew it looks like I might be well advised to set the entry numbers as anchors and then hyperlink to them. I wondered if there was a more automated way, such as is there a way to set a text style as an anchor automatically. And will the anchors automatically update if I alter the page count.
