stevegalante Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Problem... (Affinity Photo 2.5.6 on Windows 11, monitors calibrated with Spyder Xpro). Jpgs exported look more saturated than from the program. I make sure I export in sRGB IEC61966-2.1, but when I open the exported jpg in any viewer (from Windows Photo to IrfanView, FastStone, Topaz Photo, even Whatsapp on my smartphone) it looks more saturated. If I open the exported jpg in Affinity it looks normal as it was edited (not over saturated). Any ideas ? Thanks ! Quote
Pšenda Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Set correct ICC Profile for monitor in OS. If colors are displayed differently in Affinity and in other programs, it is always an incorrectly set ICC profile for the monitor. The problem seems to be that colors are shown differently ONLY in Affinity Photo. On other editors/viewers they look all the same (more saturated). If I assigned the sRGB profile to all my monitors than it would mean that my calibrations would be gone ? Quote

Yes - as quoted in my post, if only Affinity correctly uses the ICC profile for the monitor for display on the canvas, then only here the display will be different than in other applications. 50 minutes ago, stevegalante said: If I assigned the sRGB profile to all my monitors than it would mean that my calibrations would be gone ? Monitor calibration is always done to set the consistency of its display with a selected profile, for example with sRGB. If you then have this profile set as the working one in the document, then the display should be correct. If you use multiple monitors, then there could be a problem in matching their profiles. I would first try using standard/default - i.e. sRGB, and only then try using calibrated profiles. I set all my 3 monitors profiles to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and now the colors shown in Affinity are the same as in other viewers. So now how do you think I should proceed with the calibration (I'm using Spyder XPro) ? I'm mostly using calibration for video editing with Davinci Resolve but of course it could be beneficial for Affinity too. Quote
