How do I add nodes to a shape?

In Affinity Designer I have created a triangle using the Triangle Tool.
I now want to alter the shape of this object.

I'm used to Inkscape, where I can delete and add nodes after selecting an object.

In Designer I have selected the triangle and the Node Tool.
But I can't seem to add or delete nodes to either the triangle or other shapes that I've created with the shape tools.

Convert to curves, then you can move, add and delete nodes.
