garylanderson
How can I correct an underexposure in a portion of an image using Affinity Photo?
Staff MEB Posted July 11, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 11, 2016 Hi garylanderson, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Are you working/developing a RAW image in Develop Persona or editing it already in Photo Persona? In Develop Persona you can use a Brush Overlay in Overlays panel, then with it selected change the exposure in the Basic panel. Only the painted area(s) will be affected/corrected. In Photo Persona, you can add an Exposure Adjustment, clicking on the Adjustments icon on the bottom of the Layers panel with the layer you want to affect selected. Use the Exposure Adjustment dialog to set the exposure level, then press ⌘ (cmd) + I to invert the adjustment's built-in mask (you can see its thumbnail change to black in the Layer's panel) then use the Paint Brush Tool with the Fill colour set to White to paint on the mask and define/paint the areas affected by the respective adjustment. You can use the the context toolbar to set the brush settings. For more information on using adjustment's built-in masks check this video tutorial (the first example with the dog describes the process mentioned above). garylanderson
I have tried these two suggestions with limited success. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. Gary
