I use  Publisher 2.5.5, under WIndows 11.

I attached 2 files: a min imal afpub file and a document, using different character sizes (all Times New Roman!) and a lot of endnotes.

I do the following:

- open the afpub file, only page has the 2-column master page
- Place the doc. See result 1.  WHy is tghere a huge spacing between the lines? And whjy is ENdnotes in the right column, and not in the first available column. This ALWAYS is so!
- add other textpages by shift-click on teh small triangle. See result 2. The text is placed correctly, but with same remark as on result 1, the spacing. But look at endnotes: this remains on page 2, while text is added on page 2. Endnotes should be pushed backwards.
- I add a new page at the end, and manually move endnotes to that page, left column. Then place the rest of the endnotes by shift-clicking the triangle. See result 3: all endnotes are placed in  left columns only

This is a consistent issue I am fighting with: the extra sopacing, not present in the word doc, and the handling of the endnotes, which costs a lot of time correcting. I have documents, placing them, and Affinity changes the charactersize of the whole text (10) to the size of the title (30)!

All the info for retrying is in this document. I hope you can tell me what I do wrong?

Hi, regarding the spacing issue, the problem is with your empty document. You have set Character > Position and Transform > Leading Override to 13.7 pt. If you change that back to Auto before importing the docx file, the spacing will be correct. If you are consistently having this problem then perhaps at some point you saved your defaults with Leading Override set to this value.

I'll take a look at the notes problem in a moment. But you should also accept all changes and stop tracking and delete all comments before importing a docx file into Publisher.

The issue with the notes is a known issue. I shared a workaround for it in this post.

IMO this issue is a bug but it hasn't been acknowledged as a bug by Serif. But at least with this workaround you can get your work completed.

Cheers
