Selecting objects in imported Illustrator document

I'm having trouble selecting objects in a document that I originally created in Adobe Illustrator. What am I missing? :)

Did you dragged it to the canvas? If yes, double click the drawing on the canvas to make it editable (when you drag it to the canvas you are embedding the file inside AD document, not opening it directly).
