Crop Tool function

Hi, I am on Win Photo 2.5.5 and I desperately try to crop images which I placed with the File/Place function. If I click on Crop Tool C in the tool box, I can only crop the whole canvas. How do I crop the image? I have seen so many tutorials now, they all use the Crop Tool to crop placed images. I am wondering also, they call it Vector Crop tool, whereas it is called Crop tool in the tool box. Am I using the wrong tool? Where to finde the right one?

That sounds like you are watching Tutorials for Designer or Publisher, which has a Vector Crop Tool that does what you want.

Photo does not have that tool.

You might consider using a Rectangle Shape as a Mask for your Placed file, as demonstrated in this Affinity Tutorial:
