yoga_tablet
Hello, I'm having troubles with all my Affinity software (publisher, designer, photo) and would be very happy to get some help. I've searched this forum but did not find a full solution to my problem. Problem: Affinity 2 products crashing on creating or opening documents on a Windows 10 Yoga Thinkpad with newest drivers and without hardware acceleration. Platform: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga, 2nd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7600U CPU, 2.80GHz, 2.90 GHz 16GB RAM x64 processor Intel(R) HD Graphics 620, Driver 31.0.101.2130 (13.08.2024) WinTab Driver 7.3.4.38 (05.09.2017) Running Windows 10 What I've tried: Updating the entire Windows system with Windows Update and the Lenovo System Updater Updating the graphic drivers (now running 31.0.101.2130) Updating the wintab driver (now running 7.3.4.38) (De)activating hardware accelleration. Switching the "Tablet input mode" in the preferences from "Low precision" to "Windows ink". This results in a different log file but the same crash Enable/Disable "touch for gestures only" What's also weird: The „Renderer“ dropdown menu in the performance settings is empty, even if I manually add the graphics card to the PerformancePreferences.xml with <RendererName>Intel(R) HD Graphics 620</RendererName> Any pointers in what I could still try would be highly appreciated! walt.farrell
1 hour ago, yoga_tablet said: What's also weird: The „Renderer“ dropdown menu in the performance settings is empty, even if I manually add the graphics card to the PerformancePreferences.xml wit That generally indicates a problem with your graphics drivers. And crashes when creating or opening documents also commonly indicate that. Sometimes updating the drivers isn't enough; you need to start by completely removing the old ones using the DDI utility, and then install the new ones. You can find a pointer here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/216207-programs-close-when-i-open-an-existing-document-or-create-a-new-one/&do=findComment&comment=1280347 However, some users have reported success in getting around this by uninstalling the MSIX version of the application and installing the MSI/EXE version instead. But às you're already running the MSI/EXE version, I wonder if installing the MSIX version might work instead? (I would start with a complete driver replacement using DDU first.) yoga_tablet
Dear Walt, Thank you very much! Using the MSIX installer - after the complete replacement using DDU - worked! 🥳 Thanks again!
