Placed Image DPI too low -- When placing an Illustrator ai file with transparency.

Recommended Posts

As someone who is trying to transition to more Affinity products vs Adobe I'm slowing integrating Affinity products into my workflow. I encountered this error in Affinity's Preflight when I placed an Illustrator AI file that uses a transparency mask in a gradient fade. (see attached). It seems directly related to the transparency mask. When I removed the mask the error disappeared. I've seen similar posts about Illustrator effects triggering this error. What confuses me is the resolution issue. In my example Affinity Publisher seems to say the resolution is 34? With my Illustrator file the Raster effects setting is 300 ppi. Is there a workaround to saving an illustrator file with effects or transparencies that can resolve the resolution error in Affinity?

Hi @Hangman. I thought it would be easier enough to give a sample .ai file. I made a test transparency mask and dropped it into a new .afpub file AND...no error. Okay, so I tried my original .ai file that started this whole mess and tried dropping that into a new file .afpub file. And...no error? Sorry about that. I can't figure it. I replicated the error several times that day but now it's not doing it. Oh well. Thanks for replying anyway.
