ellp
Hello. I'm new to Affinity Publisher. I'm trying to create an ebook with about 15 chapters. The chapter titles are quite big, and I can't find a way to display the page numbers in the same line as the title in the TOC. There is a screenshot. Issue number 2: I don't know why, but the TOC is showing all the pages related to the chapter and not the page where the chapter starts. Anyone have any tips on how to solve this? Thanks! MikeTO
Hi @ellp. Choose Text > Show Special Characters to see the invisible symbols. This will help identify where tabs and paragraph returns are which will make the issues easier to understand. Click in one of those TOC heads and look at the Paragraph > Tabs panel. You can click the ellipsis (...) icon next to the tab stop to see more information. You will want the tab stop to be right aligned and set to 0 "From right". If "From right" is not selected, that might account for the page numbers being on separate lines. If it's wrong, update in the panel and then update the TOC paragraph style (Capítulo). For the second issue, please turn on Text > Show Special Characters and share a screenshot of the page that is generating the extra page number in the TOC. That should reveal the source of the issue. ellp
Hello Mike! Thanks for your support I took the screenshots you asked for. The first one is of the TOC and the second one is of the page where I configured the style to create the TOC. One piece of information that I don't know if it helps, but here goes: I created a master page to create the chapters of the ebook, and within this master page I configured a style that I used to create the TOC. I don't know if this could cause an error. I also set up Tab Stops as you suggested and nothing happened I've attached a project sample of my work. Hope it helps ebook-pl-v2 - sample.afpub Edited September 8 by ellp I forgot to send a project sample
MikeTO
It looks like the page numbers in your TOCs aren't automatic TOC page numbers. In the TOC panel, click the menu icon to the right of the Capítulo style name and a popup window will appear. Select "Include Page Number" if it's not already selected and set the indent level to 1. This happens automatically if you use the automatic style names of Heading 1, Heading 2, etc., but if you create your own styles you must set this manually. (If you have a heading 2 level style, you would set its indent level to 2.) Doing this will give you real page numbers to the right of your headings in the TOC. To get rid of the page numbers that are appearing there now, click in the chapter number "10" on page 20 and see what style is applied to it. I think you'll find that you've applied the Capítulo style to it, too, and then overridden it with a larger font size. To fix this, create a new style for those numbers and apply it just to them. ellp
Mike, you are a GENIUS! It works! I had to create a new chapter style and set it up on the TOC. For some reason the old style was messing with the page numbers, even changing all the page number style to another configuration. Thanks for your help Mike!
