Robert Gibson PWES
I've been using Affinity with no issues. Today I opened Publisher to work on a time sensitive document and it told me there was an update. Okay. Cool. Updated from 2.5.3 to 2.5.5. Everything seems normal. Opened up a new project and started working on it - I opened my template and started modifying it - and it crashed. I opened it again, made sure I saved the document to a new file and it crashed again. I rebooted my machine and started again and it crashed a third time - this is not normal. I think each time it crashed I was attempting to change the font from Garamond to Times New Roman. As soon as I selected Times it glitches out. This last time I tried it (while saving after EVERY change just in case it cuts out on me) I was able to change to Times, but I can't have this happening right now. I can't work if it cuts out unexpectedly, nor can I work effectively if I have to save every two seconds. Help! walt.farrell
Sorry you're having a problem with this, Robert. It does sound frustrating. Unfortunately, a brief test on macOS and on Windows didn't show any issues for me, but undoubtedly we have different fonts installed. What OS do you use, and what font manager (if any)? My only suggestion that might help at this point would be to revert to 2.5.3 and see if it works better. For Windows, you can download from https://affinity.store/update/windows/publisher/2 or for macOS from https://affinity.store/update/macos/publisher/2 instead. For either, you should uninstall 2.5.5 before trying to install 2.5.3. And for Windows, make sure you choose the correct installer depending on whether you previously installed using the EXE/MSI installer, or the MSIX installer. And also be sure to choose the right architecture for Windows, X64 or ARM64 depending on your machine. Robert Gibson PWES
It seemed to have flattened out without me having to uninstall.... but I'll keep the idea handy just in case I need it. I don't have a font manager installed, I just unzip them and drop them into the Font Settings by hand, but everything was working perfectly with the previous version. I did save every 2 seconds just to be sure because my client had already paid for the layout. Now I'll be able to dig a bit deeper. Thanks! walt.farrell
