pagelayoutt
I can't figure out why some images cause AffPub to crash as soon as I press the PIN icon on the topmost menu. I left the map unpinned and hope for the best: should I pray to theAffGOD? ;-). The two others are transparent, the map isn't. In the past, some transparent, tightly wrapped images (albatross) let themselves be pinned just fine, others mysteriously caused crashes. I varied my approach: split across two columns, strictly confined to one text column, square wrapped, tight wrapped. I also checked my memory: I've used 843 GB out of 911 GB. My AffPub file stands at 77 MB, !120 pages: not excessive). I can't figure put what I'm doing wrong.
MikeTO
A crash is never good and you should upload a crash report here to help Serif understand the issue: Are you using Mac, Windows, or iPad? If you're using Mac, are you on Apple Silicon (M1 or later)? If so, turn off Metal. Go to Settings > Performance and deselect Enable Metal and set Display to OpenGL. Using Metal can cause crashes like this when working with images. If turning that off doesn't solve it, or if you're on Windows, you could help narrow down the issue with this test: Draw a rectangle and set its X, Y, W, and H to match the image you want to pin - you can do this with the Transform panel Pin the rectangle instead of the image - do you get the same crash? If it crashes with the rectangle, then it's an issue specific to fitting an object of that size at this position in the document and Serif will likely need to see the document. If it doesn't crash with the rectangle: Create a new document and type a few paragraphs of dummy text Place the image into this document Position the cursor between the paragraphs and pin the image - does it crash? Good luck Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.1, MacBook Pro 14" (M4 Pro)
