MyronMBA
This evening, I installed the trial version of Affinity Photo. I want to place a shortcut for Affinity Photo on the Desktop of my Windows 10 computer, however I cannot find the executable for making a valid shortcut. I'm not fond of software that does not conform to standard methods of access. I'm tempted to uninstall the trial. Hopefully, someone can provide me with the proper instructions for creating a shortcut on my Windows Desktop.
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Affinity forums. 2 hours ago, MyronMBA said: I'm not fond of software that does not conform to standard methods of access. For Windows programs installed from the Microsoft Store or as an MSIX application, the "standard" method of access is via the Windows Start menu, not via a desktop shortcut. Desktop shortcuts are more commonly used for programs that don't install formally into Windows at all, or for Windows applications installed via the older MSI technology. It sounds like you installed using the MSIX version of the application installer, and would be happier if you uninstalled the version you have and downloaded the MSI/EXE installer instead. It should have been one of your choices at the Affinity site. Or, you could try the method shown in the Affinity FAQ to get a desktop shortcut, but I think you may prefer the MSI/EXE installer instead.
