Every time I generate a new version of my custom font Affinity Designer changes my documents characters

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm creating my own font using FontForge. Every time I create a new version of the font, all the characters in my Affinity Designer document change and I'm not entirely sure why? I'm using UTF8 encoding (I've created glyphs over lots of the UTF8 symbols) so I expected Affinity Designer to store the UTF8 character code which would mean the correct characters would persist through different versions of the font.

Is there anyway I can tell Affinity Designer to store the UTF8 character codes for my Text objects which would fix this infuriating bug?

Welcome to forum @Feystag - I don't have much experience with FontForge but I've just created a crude font with it and wasn't able to replicate the issue on macOS. After updating my font, exporting and importing in Font Book, it's still detected in my AFD document correctly and the characters remain.

If you could provide more details of the steps you're taking or some example files we can investigate this further for you.
