tpower
Hi all, I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. I publish with Lulu.com. I went to upload my pdf created in Affinity publisher...I followed a 3 part tutorial but they didn't talk about how to make sure pdf would be user ready....so I see some preflight problems but some I am unable to figure out how to fix like text over flow...I can' t see it myself...and a font missing that I cannot delete or change....anyway I didn't think they were deal breakers. When I tried to upload pdf I got the message that the orientations were confused In the doc. I had them all set at portrait and they said my first page and last page were landscape...I don't think they are...so why won't it upload? I wish there were a pdf police person who could tell me what I have to fix.....am I the only one with this kind of trouble??
MikeTO
I've never used that service but did you export a facing-pages document as All Spreads instead of All Pages? That might account for the warning because the first spread (which is the first page for that site) would be a single page while the second spread would be facing pages and therefore twice as wide. tpower
thank you MikeTo...I did check and all spreads is selected for export. Not sure what a facing pages document is...is that a setting I should have somewhere?
tpower
Also MikeTO ...how can I check to see if I had print or press selected when I originally set up this book? I see it when I start a new one but I can't see what I have selected in the finished book....the one I am having trouble uploading... MikeTO
17 minutes ago, tpower said: thank you MikeTo...I did check and all spreads is selected for export. Not sure what a facing pages document is...is that a setting I should have somewhere? You need to use All Pages when exporting for this type of printing service. A facing-pages document is for a book that has mirrored left and right pages. If you're seeing pages 2-3 side by side in Publisher, it's a facing pages document. That's normal to use but you need to use All Pages to export the spreads as individual pages. The Print vs Press Ready setting is just a preset, a shortcut. Print defaults to RGB with sRGB colour profile and prefers embedded images, Press Ready to CMYK with US Web Coated v2 colour profile and prefers linked images. While you can't choose Print or Press Ready later, you can change each of the individual settings in Document Setup. Please see the free manual I've written for Publisher which has a section on exporting for a print service like you're using. tpower
A BIG hug coming your way MikeTO....the doc uploaded after I changed to All pages...whew...but now I get this message....plus I did scan your manual for this but I wonder if my illustrations which I believe are vector objects need to be flattened? I rasterized and now it uploaded. I am going with that....thanks so much!!!
MikeTO
This transparency warning with Lulu.com has been reported by others with various workarounds. One of them ran into an issue with a certain combination of options that doesn't appear to have been resolved yet.
