Apple MacStudio M2 Max 14.2.1 running Publisher v 2.3.0 :: AND :: Apple iMac 2017 Ventura 13.6.3 running Publisher v 2.3.0

The M2 MacStudio is crashing a file (or files) as soon as the file is opened (1 to 3 seconds) which has 12 image files (a mixture of .jpg; Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo (v1 & v2 files). The file/s work perfectly on the intel iMac.

I have turned OFF Metal Graphics and ticked Use only integrated GPU setting.

Have restarted with CNTRL key to clear ALL the user data, but with no avail. Still crashing upon opening.

The same file (Saved in my iCloud account) opens (and stays open) perfectly fine on the intel iMac.

I can create new documents and place same graphics.

At first level, the problem could be Sonoma (but I have had same problems in the past with Ventura on the M2 Mac); but definitely a problem between Mac intel and Apple Silcon chips.

Any help appreciated.

Two crash reports attached.

Hi @GazzaDownUnder,

This appear to be crashing when doing a Preflight.  Can you call up the Preflight panel in Publisher and set that to Never, then open your file?

Would you also be able to attach your afpub file here or upload it our Dropbox here and i'll get this logged with the Developers, once i've replicated the crash.

Hi @GazzaDownUnder,

Thanks for the file.

I'm not getting a crash on my M1 MacBook when I open that file but I am missing the images used.  Would you be able to zip up the images and attach them and i'll have another go at seeing if i can get the crash?

Interestingly, I can't get any of the test files (or my real job file) to crash now!

Even if I change the Pre-flight to Never; Export or Live.

Whoops ... just did another test (as I type) and was able to make a file crash. But then when I re-opened it, it failed to crash again, even though I was trying to make it crash (using the right click mentioned next paragraph.

Different problem to what I was posting about, but may have some relevance (?) ... I was following another thread re Pre-flight and Crashing, I was able to replicate a crash by right clicking on text and doing what that person described with pre-flight.  But see previous para re today's effort.

Attached is a zip file with the graphics. Note the afpub file opens without crashing on the M2 Mac now (as mentioned above).

Question. With no documents open, I set the pre-flight to NEVER, quit the app, re-launch the app, the pre-flight button has switched to EXPORT option. Is that what should happen?
