Dougie060 Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Hi, I'm trying to print to a white toner printer - a now discontinued OKI Pro9420WT. The manual explains that whit white on the printer will print a white background behind anything it prints which is not what I want. It does go on to explain how to avoid this in Adobe but not Afinity - old printer and old manual. The explanation is attached. Is there a way to do this in either Designer2 or Photo2? thomaso Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 If I understand your attached description right it explains how to create / apply clipping objects. These are possible in Affinity, too. https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/pages/Layers/LayerMasks.html https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/pages/Layers/layerClip.html While I wonder whether for printing with white toner it might be useful to create an according spot colour swatch? And possibly use other spot colour swatches that are set to overprint? white spot colour.pdf Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Dougie060 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 Hi Thomaso I'm not sure thats what it's doing but could be wrong. Please see attached for what is happening. On one page the white has been turned off and you get good solid colour on the red and the black. on the other page the printer lays down a white layer under the red and blacks making almost pink and grey. The image is actually black text on a red rectangle, black text on a white rectangle and finally black on transparent. 20240102_143933.PDF Quote

Who is "it" … the printer's RIP? – I don't know about your printer's technology but I notice that your uploaded PDF seems to contain a JPG in full page size (A3) and no clipping path and no transparency. Also I can't judge the texture that occurs on page 2 in text and rectangle. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
