iamasmith Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I decided to get into global color and for the first thing to try decided it would be nice to do a global fill across an illustration then replace that over a series of copies of that iilustration as is popular in screen print pop art styles. The thing I don't seem to be able to find is the ability to switch one global colour for another global color tag, without refilling, and this seems really important becasue global colours can become points on gradients and refilling would seem to just destroy the gradient for the selected objects. You can very easily select all objects using that global color as a fill but replacing the fill with a solid is not always what you want. Is there an easy way to achieve this or would I have to correct out any gradients individually replacing their points then using a fill selection for all the flat fills? The other way that it could be done I suppose is save a set of the same document, update the global color in each and then paste copies of the objects into a new document, assuming this will orphan the colors because they are scoped to the original document - this does seem to work OK but one lacks final control of the grouped document in terms of global color at that point. This of course is equally applicable to desktop but iPad is my goto device for AD2. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 You can edit a global color, but you can't replace it with another one that you've defined. iamasmith Posted December 20, 2023 Author Posted December 20, 2023 OK, please consider if this is an FR or there is a better workaround. This would work really well if color swatches could be pushed down another level to the group for this task but this is product management stuff I feel and a simply suggest there's a killer gap here Quote
