Jon R Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 The Live Band Pass Mask does not Preserve Alpha (even if as in this case the parent Gaussian Blur Live Filter has it set). Workflow - Add a Photo pixel layer. Add Gaussian Blur Live Filter (no adjustments). Add Live Band Pass Mask, set Low Band = 0, set High Band = 100, tick Preview. The result (see image) is the light border around the edge of the mask. Toggling Preserve Alpha in the Gaussian Blur filter has no effect on the Band Pass mask. The same applies to other parent filter and adjustment layers (with or without a Preserve Alpha option). Should the Live Band Pass Mask layer have a Preserve Alpha option of its own? I can get round this by painting on the mask edges but seems an unnecessary step. Kind Regards Jon Quote
Ezbaze Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 I believe this is where the issue is "Add Gaussian Blur Live Filter (no adjustments)", this live filter has a separate "Preserve Alpha" checkbox Quote
Jon R Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Understood Ezbaze. But even checking the "Preserve Alpha" option makes no difference as per my original post. "Toggling Preserve Alpha in the Gaussian Blur filter has no effect on the Band Pass mask." Quote
Ezbaze Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Would you be able to share the file as it would make it easier to figure out why it's doing that? I tried recreating it but no luck. Quote
Jon R Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Ezbaze. The project file is to big to upload. Here is the original jpg if you want to follow the workflow - Add Gaussian Blur Live Filter (preserve alpha and 100 px). Place/drag it at top of layer stack. Add Live Band Pass Mask, clipped into Gaussian Blur layer as per first post image. Set Low Band = 0, set High Band = 100, tick Preview. You should see the light border around the edge of the mask, i.e. the Band Pass Mask does not seem to "preserve alpha" (and there is no option to enable it). Quote
Ezbaze Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Okay I see now, I did n't actually understand what the "Live Band Pass Mask" does, the reason it happens is that the mask is based on difference (Very simplified) as visualised below, the top is without the mask but the bottom has it applied. I guess it's not really a bug in this case but it would be nice to be able to not have the edges bleed in as an option. Ezbaze Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Here's a (posibly) temporary solution: You duplicate the image and flip it for each side, this keeps each side the same which gets rid of the bleed in Live Band Pass Mask Fix.afphoto I think this could actually be implemented as a feature, as doing it manually is a bit of a hassle / it doesn't work with objects that aren't edge to edge (eg. circle) Quote
