Recovering corrupted Affinity designer files

Recommended Posts

Hello, I guess this issue has been brought up before, but after I backed up some .afdesign files to Google Drive, they seem to be corrupted. I spent a lot of time working on them and they were really important, so I was wondering if I could get help with recovering them if possible? I worked with them last on Affinity designer version 1.7.0, on a macOS (iMac, macOS Monterey). Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forums. Which version are you trying to open these 1.7.0 files in?

Could you share a screenshot of the error message you're getting? Is it the same error message for all of them?

If you copy the files from Google Drive to your computer are you able to load them?

Are you able to share one of the files here publicly for testing?

Good luck

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the prompt response. I copied the files from Google drive to another device with Affinity designer desktop. They did not work with v 1.7 (the error always said the file is corrupted, for all files) but I managed to open them successfully on Affinity v2. Maybe it was a compatibility issue but everything seems to work now, at least on the v2 software.

If there are any issues later I will get back to you but for now I think this topic can be resolved.

Thanks a lot again!
