Darren
I am pretty new to designer, I have figured out some of the basics but would like to learn how to create a 3 layered hexagonal design like the example pictured so I can laser cut it. I have searched the internet and YouTube but haven't found any tutorials. Please could someone with the know how give me some steps to take. I guess the way to do it would be to design the top layer of hexagons first and then offset each layer below to make the hexagons smaller. I cannot figure out an easy way to lay out the hexagons in a repeating pattern for the first layer and I don't know how to offset the hexagons for the under layers. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
v_kyr
Well ... first I would first draw the single huge outer hexagone with a frame width as needed. Afterwards then create combine/layer three vector hexagone patterns (constructed out of big/smaller/smallest sized hexagones), where each smaller hexagone of the pattern fits into the bigger hexagon pattern one center wise. Arrange each of those created hexagone patterns center positioned on top of another in the layers panel, keeping care that each pattern hexagone fits size wise into the other ones hexagones. Color strokes/fills as wanted/needed Finally then group/stack the whole layers in the wanted order together and clip the resulting group under the huge single hexagone, so that is filled with the nested hexagone layers. For getting & setting up vector adjustable hexagone patterns see for example ... https://pattern.monster/hexagon-2/ https://pattern.monster/ So overall this way ...
