PhotoNewbie Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 [ I have attached a photo for viewing to see if you an help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I have "placed" the dog to the left in the photo, I do this all the time since I can't get them to pose together. I want to use the Clone Tool to correct some of the white showing around the outer edges of his hair. Probably cause I didn't do a good job of cutting him out to begin with. But, nevertheless, I always need to use that clone tool somewhere when I am making a composite of them and I have always been able to as long as I remember to be in the Background Layer. I am in that layer and I can do nothing. What have I don't wrong with this photo that I have not done before? As always, thank you so much for your help. Edit to add: ignore the Brush panel showing, I was trying some different things after I saw that the Clone Tool wasn't working for me. As you can see I am in the Background Layer and nothing that I was trying was working. Just neglected to take the screen shot when I was trying the clone tool. Quote
barninga Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 if you want to clone from the background layer to a layer above it, set the clone tool option to current layer and below, and work on the upper layer. in the photo you posted, if your goal is to hide the white among the hairs, you can add a mask to the layer and paint black over what you want to hide; if you make a mistake you can paint white to get the details back. Quote take care, stefano
