Random Black Bars on File Thumbnails

Recommended Posts

I am running Affinity Photo 2.1.1 on Windows 11 (22H2, with the latest cumulative update) on an HP laptop with 12GB of memory.  I have no idea of the state of hardware acceleration.  I have never done anything to turn it on.

When I export a PNG file, the file thumbnail will sometimes have a black bar at the bottom (see attached).  The size of the bar varies in size.  When I save the file again, sometimes the bar will remain; other times the bar will go away, event though nothing has changed to the graphic itself.  The PNG itself is not affected, just the thumbnail.

This is more of a nuisance than anything else, but I thought I would report it.

It’s usually turned ON by default (if the software can use it with your hardware).

If you turn Hardware Acceleration OFF does the problem still persist?
(You can easily turn it back on and it only takes a relaunch of the software to do it either way.)

If you can supply a document which reliably exhibits the problem then the developers can experiment with it.

I've reported a similar issue many times. I had it not only in thumbnails, but also in the files themselves. It does not depend on hardware acceleration.

It seems that Resource manager does not update files with hight resolution. After restarting Publisher, everything is displayed correctly.
